Buddy Mercado
- Manager
Buddy is one of the best baseball minds in the state. His teaching skills and ability to communicate with players of all levels are second to none. He coached at the University of North Alabama and Vanderbilt University before his professional career. His player development and scouting organizations include the Royals, Indians, Cubs, and was instrumental in the forming of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Coach Mercado sets a standard of excellence for players. He then coaches and guides them to hold that standard. His signature program the .400 club is used by high school, college, and MLB hitters today.

Ethan Clark
- Pitching Coach
Coach Clark brings a mass of professional playing experience to the Fort Smith Marshals as the pitching coach for the upcoming summer season. A former Juco standout at Crowder College, he earned All Region 16 honors before being selected in the 15 th round of the 2015 Major League Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He would go on to play five years in Minor League Baseball, competing all over the country, within the Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organizations.
During his professional career, Clark had the opportunity to learn from some of the top pitching minds in the game, gaining valuable insight into advanced pitching mechanics, velocity development, arm care routines. His experience working within multiple organizations exposed him to a variety of training methodologies, including modern data driven approaches, and individualized player development plans.
He applies this knowledge to help pitchers sharpen their tools, improve command, and maximize their throwing potential. Recently earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. Clark has transitioned into personal instruction and coaching, serving as a volunteer coach at his alma mater, Greenwood High School, during the 2024 season. His passion for player development and his firsthand experience at the professional level make him a valuable asset to the coaching staff of the Fort Smith Marshals.
